They also analyze the effects that the laws have on these crimes; whether the laws are still effective or not. To be a criminologist, you need to get a master’s degree or a PhD. Criminologists can have a career as a teacher or as an adviser in a federal and state agency.

Detectives are secret agents that work on finding evidences for legal cases. Their job is one of the most important jobs in the field of criminal justice careers. They do investigations on felonies such as parricide, murder, adultery and so much more. Detectives usually focus on a specific crime until it is solved or dropped. Some of their tasks include gathering facts, doing background checks, investigating possible suspects, performing raids and arrests, etc.

Federal agents work for one of the most revered branches in the government, the Federal Bureau of Investigations. They focus on crimes that involve the federal law like cases on illegal possession of firearms and homicide. Their operations include wire-tapping, surveillance and undercover activities. There are so many criminal justice careers out there that will give you an opportunity to excel and use your talents. It’s somewhat difficult to decide on which career path to take because all of them are very interesting. So before you choose anything, it is better if you do more research about them and see where your passions lie.
