If you want to be hired directly as a dialysis technician without having to rummage through the internet for dialysis technician schools, you can apply directly for an employer who’s willing to train and hire you at the same time. Of course, your employer will need you to sign a contract with their company for a specific period of time. You also can’t expect a higher salary than those who have gone through the pains of obtaining a certificate or an associate’s degree. The longest route towards becoming a dialysis technician is to earn an associates degree, which takes 2 years of your life. Some enjoy earning an associate’s degree because it affords them a better salary. One usually earns certification as a dialysis technician by taking an exam offered by the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology, but most employers prefer hiring those who got their certification from the National Nephrology Certification Organization. Licensure to work as a dialysis technician is not required by all states.
